Chamonix powder skiing- STEEP & DEEP

04.04.2010

Chamonix had a really great winter season this year. Especially during Easter we had perfect blue sky and sunshine and the next day it was dumping a meter of fresh pow again followed by a nother sunny day.

Chamonix at Easter time is a crazy place. There are just too many people who wanna ride the good snow. You better be early to line up for the lifts or you have a good sense for planning your reservation.

I had so many days of perfect riding together with Helli, Wolfgang and Eva. Read more about Easter riding in Chamonix at Mountain Spirit Guide's Blog.

The mountains in chamonix are way bigger, steeper and more extreme than in the rest of the Alps. For sure you can find steep runs in St.Anton too, but usually these runs are not that long and enormous. Futher I am always impressed by the high altitude and the glacier in Chamonix. My brother once said: "be careful- what looks like a whole is a whole!" Still the more often I ride in Chamonix the more experience I get in ski mountaineering and riding steep glacier faces.

Ride on!!!

Frontflip Training

27.02.2010

We found this little kicker with a perfect soft landing to try some flips! Helli did really good on the front flips. However we are motivated to train on the waterramp this summer. So next winter it's time to do bigger front-, back- and sideflips!

See ya' on the waterramp in Föderlach!!!

Shooting with Immanuel Meier

25.03.2010

Behind me are two great days of freeride and lifestyle shooting with German photographer Immanuel Meier. Unfortunately on the first day the bad weather came in pretty early and we had almost no contrasts left to shoot some good shots.
Therefore we had time to check out some cool locations for the upcoming day.

In the evening we found a pretty romantic spot to shoot some lifestyle pics. Immanuel set up his big flash units and we worked till the sun went down. Check out some of his pics in the gallery!

Riding Arlberg powder

25.03.2010

The Arlberg region is definitely my home spot. I know so many great places to go with a great variety of options. Even after a week without fresh snow you can find places like the one on the pic.

You just need to hike a bit and find yourself straight within the white paradise ;-)...
catch ya' on the mountains!!!

Shooting in Hintertux with Jens Klatt and the gang

14.02.2010

Blue sky and some fresh pow...definitely a day to meet in Hintertux for some fun riding. Jens took his camera with him and got some great shots of us riding some pow and jumping off cliffs. Especially the boys went big although the take offs and landings were rocky and tricky. We had a perfect day of' playin' in the snow and working for the camera.

For lunch we had a quick stop at the mountain restaurant in Hintertux where Jens found a Soljanka on the menue and started to revel about his childhood...not knowing that he will be going to Russia later this winter ;-)...

FM4 Wintermärchen- Winterwonderland Falkert

12.02.2010

Mari Lang from FM4-radio asked me to present the mountains in Austria where my roots are and where I grew up...that's definitely the Falkert ski area in Kärnten within. So I called Flo Köfer, local freeskier from the Falkert, who then organised a great day with us.
That day it was dumping and dumping and we had amazing powder conditions. My red Audi just made it all the way up drifting around the corners of the snow covered and really slippery road.

Altough we couldn't ride much due to foggy weather and wind and although we couldn't enjoy the view from the mountains all over Kärnten, we had an absolutely great day! Especially the hot chocolate at Flo's Zirbenstub'n was amazing. Finally we enjoyed the evening partying with some of the local guys and I met good friends of mine which I haven't seen for a while.

The file was on radio in march and is still stored on the fm4.orf.at webpage...so check the full story here!!!

Shooting for Hervis Sports with Ulrich Grill

13.03.2010

After prosponing the date due to bad weather conditions we finally went to St.Jakob im Defereggental to shoot some great Action and Lifestyle Pics for Hervis Sports. Around half past five in the morning Heidi, Alois and me left Innsbruck in cloudy, bad weather. Imagine how suprised we were seing perfect blue sky right after the tunnel. We found perfect groomed slopes with almost no people and nice cold powder for some freeride action!
We had a lot of fun playin' in the snow like little kids and working with Ulrich Grill and his asistant.

If you wanna see more...check out the next years ads at Hervis Sports Company!

See ya' back in the mountains,
Tine
